Brian Parkyn, pacifist Labour MP and carbon fibre pioneer dies

Brian Parkyn has died,one time Labour MP , conscientous objector who defeated Christopher Soames in the 1966 General Election. A chemical engineer who pioneered whilst working at Scott Bader the production of carbon fibres and associated polyester resins for producing composite materials in which the UK led he held several importantPatents

Scott Bader started by Ernest Bader he gave the company to his employees. the employees govern the company themselves - as employees.They still make Polyester resins for composite materials.

Since then Courtaulds have disappeared and the Japanese lead the world in Poly acrylonitrile (PAN) carbon fibre methods and industrial production of which 3o tons goes into every Airbus 380 and even more will into the Boeing Dreamliner 487.
