Improvised Explosive Devices in Iraq get smarter

This is a photo of a device after it had been exploded, by controlled explosion. The circuitry, most of which seems glued not soldered incorporates an opto-isolation device. These units using the readily available mobile phones (no land lines due to destruction by bombing in invasion) which contractors and Army use are difficult to jam. They have been able to cascade devices by getting one phone to call another etc., Units made in Iraq are said to turn up in Afghanistan.

So far, the strongest push to silence the bombs has come from the Army, which has ordered thousands of radio-frequency jammers from Simi Valley, California, firm EDO Communications & Countermeasures. The devices, called Warlock Green and Warlock Red, intercept "the signal sent from a remote location to the IED instructing it to detonate," an Army official told military newsletter Inside Defense. The signal "cannot make contact, therefore when it can't make contact it doesn't detonate," he added. "(It's like) the cell phone never gets through, but (enemy forces) think it goes through."

On 18 December 2003 EDO Communication and Countermeasures, Simi, Valley, Calif., was awarded on Dec. 17, 2003, a $15,923,908 firm-fixed-price contract for 167 Warlock Greens and 1000 Warlock Reds for Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom. The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command, Fort Monmouth, N.J., is the contracting activity (W15P7T-04-C-L001).

On 01 March 2004 EDO Communication and Countermeasures, Simi Valley, Calif., was awarded on Feb. 27, 2004, a $6,753,000 increment as part of a $45,287,633 firm-fixed-price contract for 132 Warlock Green electronic countermeasure devices. Work will be performed in Simi Valley, Calif., and is expected to be completed by Jan. 31, 2006. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command, Fort Monmouth, N.J., is the contracting activity (W15P7T-04-C-L001).

On 30 November 2004 EDO Communications and Countermeasures, Westlake Village, Calif., was awarded on Nov. 29, 2004, a $7,911,400 modification to a firm fixed price contract for 100 Warlock Green and 500 Warlock Red Electronic Countermeasure Devices. Work will be performed in Simi Valley, Calif., and is expected to be completed by May 30, 2005. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command, Fort Monmouth, N.J., is the contracting activity (W15P7T-04-C-L001).

Thats $28Mn (ish) for 1,500(ish) devices.

Clampdown 'prevented vote fraud' reports BBC

Ballot rigging by using forged postal votes may have been stopped because of a clampdown leading up to the general election.

Birmingham City Council's returning Officer Lin Homer said around 20,000 postal votes (approx 1/3 rd applied for) applied for were not cast on 5 May. (A similar proportion was announced in Blackburn).
“..the rigorous measures that the council and the police have taken against possible fraud may have deterred anyone on the list from using a vote which they obtained unlawfully.".... she said to the BBC.

It is evident that the general public brou ha ha will have frightened off any large scale attempts at fraud as returning officers took every possible precaution to stop any form of vote rigging. There are many people who see the massive non use of postal votes as evidence of the preparations for wide scale fraud.

Turkey slips the veil, Carriers mass, Abdullah gives his orders...where is Sharon ?

Turkish President Ahmed Necdet Sezer signed a decree authorizing the United States to use the Incirlik (South Turkey) air base. The terms and conditions for US access to the Incirlik airbase near Adana, include the requirement that information on planes and their entire cargo using the base be submitted to Turkish authorities one month in advance. A limit on basing no more than six cargo C-17 planes at Incirlik has also been set.
Ankara will retain the right of control for each flight and if any operation is seen as being against the national interests of Turkey they could be stopped at anytime.
According to information released, these requirements are part of the finalised term of the agreement reached between Ankara and Washington.
Turkish Foreign Minister Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Wednesday, 4th May 2005, ``we have decided to accept the request of the United States to use the Incirlik Air Base, and provide it with the necessary facilities. Flights at the base will be restricted to transportation of unlethal cargo to Afghanistan and Iraq.``

Incirlik Air Base (37°00'N 35°26'E) is a Turkish Air Base. It’s home to the Turkish Air Force’s 10th Refueling Wing (KC-135Rs). is close to many of the world’s potential trouble spots—Iraq, Armenia and Iran to name a few—offers a 10,000-foot main runway and 9,000-foot alternate runway, both sitting amidst 57 hardened aircraft shelters. A request for a logistics hub at Incirlik was submitted formally to the Turkish government last year, in June, 2004. The request is for a transhipment cargo hub. Currently, US C-130s and C-17s fly out of Iraq to Germany to pick up cargo to take back into Iraq. Because of safety issues (preventing overly long days and providing sufficient rest) aircrews can only make one such round trip per day. With a cargo hub at Incirlik, the same crews with the same number of aircraft can fly two sorties per day, doubling the amount of cargo that can be airlifted into Iraq.

Note 1. The 173rd Airborne is currently staging forward from the huge US base at Caserne Erdele (Vicenza) in Italy to Afghanistan.

Note 2. Iran will read it as a building military threat. Kyrgyzstan may see it as either a peacekeeping lifeline– or the launchpad for western troops. Syria is only “slightly east” of Adana (more south, actually).

Note 3. The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt group is in the Eastern Mediterranean. The USS Carl Vinson group after mopping up the tsunami is currently in the Indian Ocean placed handily for the Middle-East. That mean there are 3 major carrier groups stationed on and around Middle East. Each carrier battle group will include nuclear submarine protective cover. The battle groups can act independently and can stay on station indefinitely.

Each group carries nearly 85 aircraft and can deliver precision-guided munitions. In addition there are anti-submarine aircraft, airborne-early-warning and rotary-wing aircraft. Because of the air refueling capabilities these aircrafts can operate from a long distance. The carrier groups are independent and can operate indefinitely.
U.S. military air bases in Turkey, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and British Inoidan Ocean Territory of Diego Garcia and the three carrier groups will create a formidable force far superior to any military in the region.

Note 5 Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, on March 20, 2005, the second anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, in two TV appearances, blamed Turkey’s refusal to permit the U.S. Fourth Infantry Division to use its territory to open a northern front against Iraq with preventing the capture or killing of future insurgents hardest and reducing their number. If that had happened, he said “the insurgency today would be less.” It follows that if that had happened fewer American soldiers would have been killed by the insurgents.

Note 6 Mr. Feith, (now Former) Defense Under Secretary for Policy Douglas Feith an assistant to Mr. Perle at the Defense Department in the 1980’s, is a former paid agent of Turkey who headed International Advisors Inc. War Takes Heavy Psychological Toll

Hoosiers (that’s folks from Indiana) who served in Iraq or Afghanistan are in the Roudebush Veterans Administration Medical Center in Indianapolis getting treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
PTSD is a term and a medical condition that originated in the Vietnam War. Soldiers brought home more than physical injuries, symptoms include flashbacks, anxiety, lack of sleep and uncontrolled anger.

"They're 19 or 20 and maybe they've never even been to their grandfather's funeral. And now they're seeing their friends die. They're seeing things they never had to deal with before,” says VA Combat Vets co-ordianator Cheryl Proper to Wish TV .

USMC Sergeant NB was badly hurt in a rocket attack, but he's seeking more than just physical healing. "Last Wednesday I was sitting there at the table eating breakfast and you don't know what brings it on but you just sit there and I just envisioned rockets coming through my kitchen window,” he said.

Physical therapy has helped Sgt. NB who wounded his leg and arm. To heal his spirit, he takes a different path. He visits local schools and talks to kids about Iraq. Bennett shows the captivated children his Purple Heart and explains what American soldiers are doing in Iraq.
NBennett also gets mental health counselling at the VA Medical Center.

From poetry, to therapy, to talking to school kids about the war, every veteran has a different path to emotional recovery. Their recovery may be aided by a public that has welcomed them home with open arms. ... after their lives have been destroyed by the lying bastards like Bush, Blair, Straw, Hoon, Rumsfeld, Bolton, Feith, Rice, Powell, .......

Rammell free to fight off the terrorists again

or call 01270 431001 to support his fearless and frank stand against terrorists and terrorism....... wipe that bloody grin off his face.

40 year old Martin Torrijos took office on September 1st 2004 as President of Panama.

The inauguration was attended by officials from around the world, including Secretary of State Colin L. Powell (his 2nd visit in 10 months) and Bill Rammell, UK Foreign Office Minister for Latin America whilst on his way to North Korea (DPRK)..

Torrijos criticized Moscoso for her pardoning 4 Cuban exiles accused by the Cuban government of trying to kill President Fidel Castro at a summit in Panama in 2000. “For me, there are not two classes of terrorism, one that is condemned and another that is pardoned. . . . It has to be fought no matter what its origins,” Torrijos said.

On August 26 Panama's outgoing president, Mireya Moscoso, pardoned the 4 four Cuban-born right wingers arrested in November 2000 in connection with an alleged plot to assassinate Castro. The four - Luis Posada Carriles, Gaspar Jiménez Escobedo, Guillermo Novo Sampol and Pedro Crespín Remón-were convicted of lesser offences in April and given prison sentences ranging from seven to eight years.

Curiously Nether Powell nor Rammell were moved to criticize this wholesale export fo terrorists to the US.

Rammell does not reply to letters asking why we he does nothing about these terrorists at large in the US.

It was therefore with some satisfaction that he only narrowly was re-elected after 3 recounts with a majority of 92 in Harlow.

UK democratic instututions need more people with the vision, honesty and ability to pursue terrorists in our midst like Rammell. For more info on Panama / terrorism and Bill Rammell's fearless pursuit of terrorists >>>>

There is (apparently) no truth at all in the widely reported story that John Sweeney sleeps in his stained and tattered DOM raincoat. Here he is inking his stubby fingers on the Guradian whilst his dwarf Cyclopian recorder takes in the Craig Murray aftermath. Straw sweats it out at the count

An uneasy Jack Straw at the poll - his vote is down and tomorrow we all find out he retains his position as Gubment chief apologist for torture, stealing the Chagos Islanders home, prior knowledge of the attempted illegal overthrow (funded by terrorist activist Mark Thatcher - who is still at loose) of a foreign government, supporter of illegal occupation of Iraq...No wonder he looks worried.

Over 2,500 Oldham postal voters get 2 votes

JILL Barber with the two sets of ballot papers sent for her use.

CONCERNS over the postal voting system have intensified after more than 2,500 Oldham voters received two sets of ballot papers.

Constituents in the Oldham West and Royton seat were left confused after being sent a second set of forms following what Oldham Council is describing as a “technical printing error”.

And red-faced election officials have now had to write to each affected voter, asking them to complete only one form and destroy the other.
Which being decent, honest citizens they will do...100%...er...of course!!!!

Independent on Blackburn vote rigging

In the Lancashire constituency of Blackburn, where the Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, is defending his 9,249 majority, the vote-rigging allegations have intensified as polling day nears.

"I've come from Uzbekistan to Blackburnistan," says Craig Murray, Britain's former ambassador to the central Asian republic who is campaigning to unseat the Foreign Secretary. He left the Foreign Office after speaking out against the Government's use of intelligence obtained by torture. approved by Jack Straw.

"This is very much a Labour rotten borough," he said. "There is a nexus of the police, the authorities and business - if we were in the Soviet Union, you would say mafia."(If you were in Blackburn you would say Mafia as well)

Craig in his election address posted to each named voter in Blackburn quotes the evidence of Independent coumnist Yasmin Alibhai Brown to a Commons committee where she fingers Lord Patel as the "fixer". So far no response. Contact us by e-mail for a copy of her evidence.

Omagh bombing: man faces murder charges:6.14PM, Wed May 4 2005

Sean Gerard Hoey, 35 (DOB August 13, 1969 )
an electrician from, Molly Road, Jonesborough, South Armagh man is to be charged with murdering the 29 people who died in the Omagh bombing. The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Belfast has given police the go-ahead after a mammoth investigation which involved a review of all the forensic evidence by an international panel of scientists from Toronto, New York and Switzerland.

Hoey is already in custody on a series of terrorist charges and membership of the Real IRA, the dissident republican group which bombed Omagh killed 29 people including unborn twins and injured 300 in August 1998. Hoey who is being held at Maghaberry Prison, near Lisburn, Co Antrim is due to appear at a remand hearing at Craigavon, Co Armagh on May 19. He is the FIRST person to be charged for the offence in Northern Ireland. (Amazing what an election can do to the speed of justice)

Hoey is also accused of explosives charges and of possessing timer units allegedly linked to several mortar, car and roadside bombs in the months before Omagh.

Hoey who is being held at Maghaberry Prison, near Lisburn, Co Antrim is due to appear at a remand hearing at Craigavon, Co Armagh on May 19 2005.

At last the state moves against terrorism after 7 years - luckily they only used bombs and not osmium tetroxide or ricin... of course in July 2001 a double agent using the pseudonym Kevin Fulton alleges he told his Special Branch handlers days in advance of the Omagh attack that the Real IRA was preparing a bomb. It is claimed Special Branch failed to pass this information on.

Ex-Councillor in Birmingham Cleared over Vote-Rigging Claims

A former Labour Party councillor accused of being one of the ringleaders of what a judge described as a widespread vote-rigging fraud cleared his name today.

The Appeal court panel was heavyweight, Lord Phillips, Master of the Rolls, a Lord Justice Brooke, vice- president of the Appeal court, and Lord Justice Dyson. Prefessional indemnity Insurers were watching because of cover to local authorities and their returning officers in particular. The 3 judges quashed the findings of Election Commissioner Richard Mawrey QC relating to Muhammad Afzal.

Lord Phillips said the ruling of Judge Mawrey would have to be changed to delete any reference to Mr Afzal being personally guilty of corrupt and illegal practices involving postal voting.

The deputy High Court judge’s rulings on two other councillors in Aston – that they were involved in illegal practices – remains. The police described finding Mr Afzal and Mr Kazi (Mohammed Kazi is a longstanding Labour officer. He is a former postman and official of the postal workers’ union ) and Mr Islam ( A handwriting expert found that Mr Islam had signed 121 voting papers using five names and six addresses), handling unsealed postal ballots in a deserted warehouse in the city. During the 4 week Election Court hearings, Commissioner Mawrey was told the trio had been caught operating a "vote-rigging factory".

He said there was evidence of “massive, systematic and organised fraud” in the campaign had made a mockery of the election and ruled that not less than 1,500 votes had been cast fraudulently in Birminham. One of the wards where corruption was said to be rife covered Aston, an inner-city neighbourhood. This is the stamping ground of Muhammad Afzal, a city councillor for 23 years, widely regarded as the most powerful man in Birmingham Asian politics.

Ramby de Mello, representing Mr Afzal, told the judges at today’s hearing that his client had not had a fair trial at the election court.

The judges will give their reasons for their decision at a later date.

A relieved Mr Afzal said : “I am glad I have been vindicated by the Court of Appeal.

“I have always believed in British justice and justice has been done to me. It has been proved that I have done nothing wrong.”

Paisley and the DUP could be 4th biggest party @ Westminster

Ian Paisley the shy retiring Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) leader and Moderator of the Free Presbyterian Church is set for a massive electoral victory on Thursday. He has stood in the way of every political initiative in Northern Ireland for nearly 40 years and has no intention of changing.

Paisley describes every UUP either a traitor or a Judas who is determined to sell Northern Ireland into a united Ireland.

He is set to lead the 4th largest Party in Westminster and will relish the wielding of his power in it.On 26 November 2003, elections were held for a devolved NI.Assembly (that is still officially suspended). The DUP routed David Trimble's Ulster Unionist Party, and officially became Northern Ireland's biggest party with 26 per cent of first-preference votes these Westminster elections will serve to increase his control and influence.

The Sinn Fein leadership, who have received kid glove treatment by the capitalist media, see themselves as political geniuses. There will be a sea change when they are increasingly seen as unreformed terrorists. To make matters worse, the more vehement Adams' denials of IRA membership, the more uneasy becomes a base that is steeped in republican militarism.

There were 105 candidates contesting Northern Ireland's 18 seats. 15 have sitting MP’s and three veterans are Ulster Unionist, Martin Smyth in South Belfast, the SDLP's Seamus Mallon in Newry and Armagh and former SDLP leader John Hume in Foyle.

Johnny White, (UDP Chairman) spokesperson for loyalist 'mad dog' Johnny Adair, routinely explained his enormous wealth by claiming that it arose from the proceeds of the sale of jail handicrafts… we have reached the “Johnny” moment. Will Blair sieze it or yield to Paisley and the DUP ?

Blairs legacy of obedience from Thatcher >

The Secret Behind Blair's Wars

Dear Mr. Keys,

All the discussion on the Iraq war is essentially a diversion. There is a secret clause in the Trident submarine treaty that was signed by Mrs Thatcher in 1983. The secret clause states that the British Prime Minister is required to go to war if he/she gets the order from the President of the United States. You will appreciate that this information explains a lot, notably why Blair has repeatedly gone to war, but only when required to by the Americans. It also explains why Blair is so different from his Labour predecessors, such as Harold Wilson, who refused to send our troops to Vietnam in 1968. The secret agreement was designed by Thatcher to secretly tie the hands of British Prime Ministers for many years to come. Without naming sources, I received this information from a British Army officer a couple of years ago.

Some people (Martin Bell?) may try to dissuade you from raising this information in your campaign. That would be a grave mistake. it could cause a sea change if you can get it into the media. It is convincing, it is true and it explains things. If you can get it into the news somehow, you will be able to take the initiative, even if you lose this election. This information will be of immense value to your movement 'Military Families Against War'. It can be used to focus your campaign around a priority objective, which is to get the treaty revised and the secret clause removed.

Owing to the subordination of our national sovereignty to foreign interests - American and even Israeli - there is significant dissent within the armed forces and the security services. It don't think it will take much for people with courage to speak out in your support. After all, it's obvious. Already Britain has a varied record of dissent in such matters: several people have spoken out on sensitive issues. If not in Britain, they have done it in America, thanks to the First Amendment.

I would be very grateful if you would send a brief reply, to let me know that you have received this. I firmly believe that your son's tragic death will not have been futile, if you and your movement can make this a national issue.

Yours sincerely,

Gordon Logan

Xymphora concludes .........

· Blair knew in March 2002 that the attack on Iraq was illegal, and has known this ever since.

* Blair was ordered to attack Iraq by Bush in April 2002.

* Blair and his inner circle arranged to set up Saddam in July 2002.

* When he couldn't get a UN resolution, Blair arranged for both American and British pressure to be placed on Lord Goldsmith, until he was so worn down that he issued an opinion written by Blair's inner circle.

* Blair lied about the state of the legal advice he had been given, and refused to hear advice he knew he wouldn't like.

* Both Blair and Bush have consistently lied in claiming that the war was not inevitable.

Tony Blair is a liar and a war criminal.

PM secretly signs up to new deterrent as UN tries to cut global threat

Tony Blair has secretly decided (?) that Britain will build a new generation of nuclear deterrent to replace the ageing Trident submarine fleet at a cost of more than £10bn - a move certain to dismay thousands of Labour Party loyalists in the approach to polling day.

This is 100% tosh. The UK has no nuclear weapons, the Trident missile war heads belong to the US. To be updated, maintained etc., they have to be returned to Kings Bay, Georgia US. The UK merely store and keep them ready for use. Use is strictly controlled by the US. John Major started the run down of all UK military nuclear capability which is now complete. Since the withdrawal of the RAF's free-fall nuclear bomb, the WE177, Trident D5 is the only nuclear system still deployed by the UK (God knows what the US have here) . The current and only UK operaable nuclear WMD the Trident II D-5 a three-stage, solid propellant, inertially guided FBM with a range of more than 4,000 nautical miles. The Trident acquisition program is said to have cost an eye popping £17BN and each missile $28 Mn. …so any replacement will be cost more than £10Bn and will be decided not by Tony or any other PM but by the US military For more >>> And @ MOD >>

Evans Sent ....BBC splash Blair support again

2 May, 0925BST Ginger group By Mark SimpsonBBC News POSTED: Monday 2 May,0925BST
"He may look more like Charles Kennedy than Tony Blair, but TV presenter Chris Evans is siding with Labour.
The ginger-haired star introduced the PM at a Labour rally in Enfield last night, showered him with witty praise and then made a confession - he reads the Daily Telegraph.
Evans said it was unusual reading material for a socialist, but added that he liked the crossword and also wanted to find out what the Tories were up to. "They're not up to very much," he concluded, which went down well with the Labour audience. blah blah blah" click on link if you can stomach more New Labour speak

Here we go again, the BBC Blair Fan Club in full cry yet again, and the "entertainment industry" boosting Blair in a fit of mutual backscratching. In 1998 MORI undertook a poll for M&M's of the young voters and 7% wanted Chris Evans as PM...Tony would like a share of that so Chris is giving him a lift and also slippinf into gear with the BBC again anxious of course to boost the listeners.

Stations unite for Radio Aid

LONDON (Reuters) - Prime Minister Tony Blair has joined maverick DJ Chris Evans to help raise money for victims of Asia's Tsunami disaster during an all-day radio broadcast.

Blair was the special guest on Evans's morning broadcast on Monday, and put up for auction a personal tour of his Downing Street residence. (Expect CE back on the BBC schedules soon...)

..... Just 2 old actors getting together to scratch each other's backs...That's showbiz folks...... Helped no doubt by the assistance of Freud Communications (prop.42 yr old Matthew Freud, son of Ex Lib/Dem MP and bore Clement Freud) who provides PR services to both Tony B & Chris E. 42 yr old Matthew is married to Head of B Sky B, Elisabeth Murdoch, daughter of Rupe , close friend of Peter Mandelson. BSkyB paid for a large party for Young Labour (in the World Famous Palace Discotheque in Blackpool) at the 1998 Labour Party Conference, organised by Matthew Freud and hosted by Chris Evans. The party cost £20,000....small world.. entertainment. Later of course Freud was on the chief planning committee for the Millenium Dome.

John Sweeney and the BBC take over abusing Moazzem Begg from Bush

Look for theHatchet faced handmaiden from the BBC <<<

Moazzem Begg, the b**** and John Sweeney the boor from the BBC

Blackburn, May Day and Moazzem Begg, a shy, bespectacle diffident soul, victim of 3 years illegal imprisonment by the US , with 20 months in solitary. Shuttled around the world from Bagram, the Kandahar to Guantanamo to London before being released without charge or apology or compensation faced a warm crowd of several hundred.

His harrowing tale, the neglect of his Government, the indifference of his kidnappers, the refusal to provide legal assistance and representation, the removal of all means of communication with family, friends and lawyers, a child born in his absence....a humbly told and frightening tale of Government corruption could not fail to move.

Not so John Sweeney BBC apparatchik and Gubment apologist, the portly shambling figure in the second hand, shabby and stained DOM raincoat, sweaty forehead and the moist lips of a ……

No, our John, his evident venereal strabismus giving him an unpleasant aspect even when he unsmilingly smiling confronted the polite and sweet Mozzem,” Why did you come here to support Craig Murray, he isn’t a Muslim ?” The BBC camera rolled. The Listeners gasped.

Sweeney was challenged at this insensitive and offensive remark. “ I am provocative” he explains, “..it is my job”. His hatchet faced handmaiden, with glacial and forbidding stare, a Bet Lynch lookalike down to the leopard skin and brassy stare of a streetwalker looked on, impassive as an Ice Maiden.

Hard faced harridan from the BBC >>>>>>

Further challenged Sweeney proudly- and comically, with evident polished and practised relish, reeled off a list of his achievement, Amnesty award, 2 visits to Chechynya, Afghanistan,,blah, blah.. the sweat stood out even more on his brow.

He was challenged again. His unnecessary hassling of Begg placed him alongside his inquisitors at Guantanamo… the hard faced … well... lady from the BBC hustled him off….smelling trouble.

A quick Google and his form is apparent... 2 days in sunny Blackburn dogging Craig Murray's footsteps... a Foreign Secretary, shocked and shaken behind shuttered windows, who has surrendered the streets to Murray ... the Moazzem Begg meeting , improbably in "Tony's" Ballroom a decayed 20's plais de danse - because the Labour \Local Authority refused to provide a FREE venue as legally obliged - So this is Sweeney's story.. or an attempt to conjure one up. Rough up the ex con and get him to say something he will regret on camera - Sweeney is missing his way, he wants to apply for a job with the torture crews on Diego Garcia...or is that being provocative ?
