Juhl in Henson's crown.....

Jerry Juhl, the Emmy Award winner, co-wrote most of the Muppet feature films and wrote for "Sesame Street" during its early years, died of cancer Sept. 27 in Caspar CA aged 67.

Jerry was the first employee hired by Jim Henson in 1961, originally to Jim Henson’s wife. He only ever performed as the evil witch Tamanilla Grinderfall but Jerry went on to write "The Muppet Movie," which marked the Muppets' move to the big screen in 1979. He later wrote the screenplay for "The Muppet Christmas Carol" and co-wrote "The Great Muppet Caper," "Muppet Treasure Island" (the greatest film ever made – the final underwater scene of the scuba diving rats being the best piece of film ever) and "Muppets From Space."… and of course wrote “Fraggle Rock” for 5 years.

Scriptwriter for Hanson puppets for years, he also invented the incomparable Gonzo, (who for many years my wife has sworn was modelled on me), the narrator of "The Muppet Christmas Carol" as well as the lead in "Muppets from Space."

He fell out with Brian Henson, retired to Caspar, and was very active in saving the Californian Redwoods … maybe the Postal Services will produce a stamp for him.
